Bands in the Bury – What a Day it Was!

 Saturday June 24, 2023

We could not have asked for more for our annual Bands Event in The Bury in Odiham. The sun shone and the residents of Odiham were out in force and in the mood for some great entertainment, food and drink.

Our five bands provided a great variety of music and there was something for everyone. Huge thanks to Timeless, The Two Beatles, Conan Mac, Toxic Sausage and The Good Questions who all played their hearts out for us.

There was delicious food from Woodland Pig Hog Roast, Peppones Street Food, El Cantina Burrito, Hobo Coffee, Mr Whippy and Cinnamon and Sugar Churros. Drinks were provided by Longdog Brewery, Gorilla Spirits and Tilford Brewery as well as our own InOdiham volunteers who spent the afternoon mixing delicious glasses of Pimms and serving wine.

We have an amazing group of volunteers on the inOdiham team, who give hours and hours of their own time into putting on this Armed Forces Day community music event. They set up, man the stalls, close roads and clean up at the end of the day when everyone else has gone home. Our team leaders for this event were Sarah Biggs and Neil Wallington who have done so much planning and organising over the last few months – a big thank you to them.

Our team do a lot of fundraising to keep this event free to attend, but we would not be able to do it without a generous grant from OPC so a big thank you the Parish Council.

We also wouldn’t be able to manage without the essential support in the form of sponsorship from RJA Security, Rawlings, All Saints Church, Bob Wilson, King Street Dental Practice, Westport Grey, Hadley Simmons, Mayhill School, Hart District Council and Hampshire County Council.

The Scouts also did an amazing job collecting up all the litter during the afternoon. What a shift they put in.

Also, our thanks to Lee and Stuart who brought us such great sound for the bands.

Lastly to all of you, the residents of Odiham, who pitched up, danced, sang, enjoyed the day and supported the event by buying a glass of Pimms or two and a raffle ticket. It wouldn’t happen without your support. See you next year!
